Slipknot Newz!

July-17-2001
------------Iowa Newz-----------------
Roadrunner Records is reportedly close to finalizing a new distribution deal with Island / Def Jam. A final deal could come down shortly. Island / Def Jam, home of artists that include Saliva, Primer 55 and Relative Ash, also recently nabbed American Recordings (Slayer, System of a Down, American Head Charge) following their departure from Columbia Records. A deal for Roadrunner, which could involve legal complications, would finalize a full release for Slipknot's new album "Iowa". The fate of other Roadrunner releases (Ill Nino, Chimaira, Machine Head) are currently unknown.

Slipknot have run afoul in a Missouri ballpark, their onstage cussing allegedly despoiling the wholesome name of a Midwest supermarket chain.

Ramey/Price Cutter Supermarkets, which owns 29 stores throughout southern Missouri and southeast Kansas, expressed concern following Slipknot's profanity-laden performance Sunday at Price Cutter Park in Ozark, Missouri. The show apparently offended many neighbors, who filed obscenity complaints with the Ozark Police Department, according to an Associated Press report.

A spokesperson for Ramey/Price Cutter president Larry Willis said that the store wishes to meet with concert promoters to decide whether or not it "agrees" with artists booked at the venue, which has carried the Price Cutter name for more than two years. Slipknot didn't give a fuck about the incident at press time, and did not say anything about it.

The group's controversial set marked the first date of the Big Day Off Tour, featuring fellow Ozzfest cohorts such as Mudvayne, Linkin Park, Disturbed and Papa Roach, whose sets went off without a hitch.

When not hosting concerts, Price Cutter Park is home to another nine-member outfit with numbers on their uniforms, baseball's Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks of the Texas-Louisiana League.

-------------Jim and Mick's Solo Albums--------
After blowing minds (and eardrums) on the Ozzfest main stage with their nine-tiered sonic assault, not all the members of Slipknot can rest comfortably on their laurels. For guitarists #4 (James Root) and #7 (Mick Thompson), there's still work to be done.
The axe-wielding madmen are each working on solo albums during the Ozzfest downtime, according to a spokesperson for London Records, the label on board to release the LPs. Though further details on the solo projects remain sketchy and no firm release dates have been established, the label expects both albums to drop early next year. Prepare for some more madness, following Iowa.

-----------Roller Ball Delay-----
Rollerball has been delayed from August 2001 until Spring 2002 due to the film company wanting more time to edit the film and advertise it correctly. Is it just me or does everything involving hearing a new Slipknot song get delayed.

------------Iowa Newz!-----------
Slipknot's new album "Iowa" has been pushed back once again, this time to an August 21st release date. The album will be made available in double vinyl, cassette and cd formats. There is also a huge possibility that the album may be pushed back to a September release date. (this newz is kinda old...)
--------Shawns Arrest---------
For fans who don't know Shawn was arrested July 3rd. Here's hhe story behind Shawn's arrest at the Some set Ozzfest show recently was because of an altercation that took place backstage involving security. Just like the last time, Shawn was driving a motorized golf cart backstage unmasked and drove through an "unauthorized area". Security mistook him for a fan and took him down with a lariat, causing Shawn to fall off the cart. Shawn retaliated by throwing a punch, but was subdued later on by two guards using pepper sprays. He was released soon after confirming his identity as a member of Slipknot.
