Make The Masks!!!!

These Are Kind Of Difficult So Read Carefully!

0- Sid

Sid's mask is the absolute easiest. Just buy a gasmask! Get it at some army surplus. It doesn't really matter if it's not exact, keep in mind that Sid has about 10.

1 - Joey

Joey wears a Japanese Kabuki mask. They are very common in Japan. If you live outside of Japan, a halloween shop is probably the only place with one of these. Try to find a cheap plastic one, so it won't fall and break and be too heavy, etc. It costs 4 bucks in cosmic outfitters. I do not know how he keeps it on his head, so be creative. I recommend using an everyday elastic strap and wrapping it around you head, attaching it on the inside of the mask.

2 - Paul

Paul's mask is similar to James' in construction. Its a cut out rubber latex mask with leather straps to attached to it. If you find a pig mask, cut it to fit your face (a little loose). Then cut out eyes and if not already done, cut out the mouth . There are two straps on the top that cross over the head. Make sure the entire top portion has a tight fit. Scroll down for instructions to making the back of the mask.To add detail, add a key lock to the nose, and rivet black leather to the mask. I found a pretty similar one here, but it is kind of girly. If you cut off the hair and eyes, No one will be able to tell. Hey, it's only 11 bucks.

3 - Chris

I have never seen a mask replica of this, in fact this is probably the least common mask out of all of them. Here's my method: Buy a white latex mask and cut out the front portion so it ONLY covers up your face (trust me!). Be sure that your forehead shows when your wearing the mask. next, cut it in half and sew it back together so it looks authentic. Place about a carrot- sized noze to the front, add the mouth zipper and rivet around to the mouth. Your done with step 1.
Step two is a relatively easy step. fit a light black leather/ nylon/ latex garment around your head and neck. Cut out the face part so your whole face is visible, but keep the back part and neck part intact.
This takes us to step 3. attach the white part (step 1) to the black part (step 2) so that it covers up your face (make sure your skin isn't visible). Now, bind the two with leather straps stretching from the bottom of your ear to the top, where it will meet the overhead ring (see picture) These rings are very common, but if you can't find one, just get a keyring.
****Note Some People Have Also Told Me That You Can Find A Mask Like Chris's In Sex Shops...

4 - Jim

Jim's mask needs to be purchased. Buy it online here, and search for "jester mask" (picture on the right). However, when you buy it, it won't be too much like his. You will have to make many modifications. For instructions on making the back of it, scroll down to the bottom. Now, for the face. you will have to cut off the top and bottom of it so just the white part is showing.Dont forget to cut the neck mid - way. Next, cut off the mouth, which will be replaced by the zipper. After that, rivet around his mouth. This process seems simple, but it really isn't. Most of the mask's hard parts are encountered when working on the back part, which are down at the bottom. For pics of his mask, go to his section on the left.

5 - Craig

For starters, you will need you to buy a cheap drag racing helmet. Once this is done, attach long, sturdy nails through the inside, so the tips are visible outside, and tape them Space these about 1 1/2 inches apart.
If the helmet is not already equipped with goggles, then carefully apply oversized diving goggles to the front. If you really want to make it exact, then make sure the nails are rusted, and DON'T put a camera flash on the top of the mask bacause that's what recently took that off his mask.

6 - Shawn

Well, I looked everywhere on the net for a good clown mask It may not be exact, but it will get the job done if you do it right. For those of you who think that you can just go out and buy one as Shawn did, you' re wrong because he got it around 15 years ago. I personally wouldn't recommend going to great lengths to find a replica of the real clown mask, as he has bought a new one (i heard from multiple resources) But let's say you wanna buy the mask on the right which can be found on this site....
First off, you have to make the desicion whether or not to cut the hair off. Shawn's mask's hair will be pretty simple to apply. Just get yarn or felt and apply it to both sides and the back. Leave the top BALD! next, cut off the neck part but make sure the bottom of the mask reaches only to around your neck, right under your chin. I would recommend to replace this mask's teeth with white teeth. Next, apply eye shadow to the white porton above the eye, but try not to make it look too girly. If you really wanna be realistic, then fit it so it's thinner on your face, and don't forget to make it look old and ravaged.

7 - Mick

I recommend using paper and making the mask as a pattern. You wouldn't want to mess up and waste some leather. After you have all the paper pieces perfect. Blue-tac or similar the paper to the leather and cut the leather out. Also to see if the paper mask will work staple it all together.
to the right that mick's mask has five visible peices. They are the forehead peice, the two side ones, the under- eye portion, and the mouth. I know that Mick's mask is made out of leather, which is very appropriate for this kind of mask. Mick's mask is not any specific colors, as he keeps spraypainting it different. Don't cut out the eye, nose, and mouth holes yet!! Trust me...
Now the first step is the forehead peice. As i said, measure some paper on your forehead first, and use it as a guide for cutting the leather. Do this before every step. Now, rivet around the forehead. there are four (or three, if you have a small forehead) to each side, and two at themiddle, bottom.
Now, do the sides. While doing this, REMEMBER TO LEAVE EXTRA LEATHER for when you will overlap it! the top- side parts have to tuck under the left and right sides of the forehead peice. The undereye section will tuck under the lowe forehead part and the side parts, and the mouth peice goes under everything.
Now that you have that in mind, cut them out in paper, then leather, then add the "circles". Don't worry about theeye part yet. As i said, dont cut any eye, mouth, aor nose holes yet. repat this step for the mouth and under eye. Remember that the bottom has edges, and needs no riveting.
Still not quite done. Attach all the peices together. Either sew them together or staple them or if you use light material, consider glueing it together. Next, spray paint it either green, silver, or grey. When done with that, adjust the back. If you have long hair like Mick, use elastic so it will stay on, or you can use the method for Chris, James, and Paul's masks (see below) Finished!

I get tons of questions about Corey's mask. I myself did not make on, nor am I an expert on this kind of thing. My original Corey instructions sucked. Two people emailed me their methods (they made their own) so I posted them up. If I find some better ones somewhere, I'll definately lput them up A.S.A.P. If you have any good methods on any of these masks, please email them to me.

8 - Corey

Stuff you will need.
1.long round shoe lace's 8 of them.
2.roll of twine, it's about $2.oo
3.hair tie's, there about $1.50

12.last but not least 1 pair of scissors you should have some some were.

Cost to make this mask, $20.40 its about this price.

Instructions.(remember this is a 2 man job)

1.put the stocking over your head and get your freind or who ever is helping you to mark with the marker where to put the eyes and mouth.

2.take the stocking of then cut the eyes and mouth out cut only little holes you will cut them out better later.

3.put the stocking back on now for the long part get your partner who's helping you with this mask to start tapping your head up with the masking tape start from the top of your head and work your way down and do under the chin, when your doing this don't shape the face features just the nose and chin with the nose don't shape it all around only the bridge, look at a picture of Corey and you will get what im saying. WARNING DONT TAPE OVER THE MOUTH HOLE GO ROUND IT, and make sure you dont tape it to tight because it will be hard to take off and it may also cause you to faint besure to ask if they the feel ok every 1 minute or so when taping there head up, and be ready to remove the mask when they don't feel good.

4.now after the taping is done cut a line up the back of the mask do it slow or you will get stabbed in the head, cut to the middle of the mask andbefore you take it off mark were your eyes are with the marker then take the mask off, if it cant come off cut it a little bit more.

5.now to make the eyes and mouth better draw the eyes in a oval shape slightly slanted and the mouth, well just look at a picture of Corey and you will see how its done.

6.now cut the eyes and mouth out, and just under Corey's nose there is bit of mask cut out do that as well.

7.this is a tricky part SPRAY PAINTING, look at a picture of Corey and see the color of the mask try and do that it's hard 1) first coat wight. 2) second coat grey only in some areas. 3) third coat black in patches. The
picture will help allot. Now let it dry and get to the dreads.

8.get the shoe laces and cut them in half, now get the twine and cut a pileof it, "why" because you will need heaps, 1) get one of the laces and the twine. 2) get the end of the lace and twine put them in a knot just a small one. 3) start to wrap the twine around the shoe lace when the lace is finished take one hair tie and tie the end up look at a picture of Corey to see what I mean. 4) do the rest of the shoe laces its gona be a long time befor this is done. 5) when finished every shoe lace get one of the selected colored dies and put the dreads in the die add water to the die so you can fit all the dreads in use a tin bowl for this or any bowl it
doesn't matter me you dont have to die them if you don't want to. Let it soak over night. 6) NEXT DAY. get the dreads out of the die and hang them up to dry for 12 hours.

9.get your almost finished mask and mark out were you will put your dreads

10.get the pointy sharp thing you should have and use it to prick holes into the head of the mask, prick were you marked the mask, you may need tomake them bigger later.

11.get your dried died dreads and put them through the holes you made, put them knot first.

12.there you have it a Corey Taylor mask, easy wasn't it but if you were wanting something more better than you just made well go get a crash dummie and skin it's head.

(emailed to me by Maggot #21 / Killbilly)

The material is the inside of a pair of (old) jeans (low budget!) First, cut out a piece of jeans. Then, make a circle around your head with the fabric, covering your face til' your eyes, a little above it. Then, sow another piece of jeans on the top of your previous one. Then, wile wearing your pre-mask, place the piece of fabric over your head to make the top and pin a needle there to remember where you wanna atatch it. Sew it together. now, make sure everything is together so you don't see any skin. Then, put it on and everywhere where there's to much fabric, cut it of and sow the remains together. Now, mark the eyes and mouth. Cut them out. Now, make a cut in the corners of our eyes (I mean the mask!) Then sew that back together. Then atach the zipper for your mouth (do this so that it seems that it is to high; it will come out perfect. now, use thick rope and less thick rope for your dreads, just cut little holes where you want 'em and sew through the rope and mask to atach them. Then, make the stripes with a ballpaoint or a textile marker. Then lay the mask on the floor on top of a piece of newspaper,
with the dreads in one direction. Take some colored hair spray and paint them (you can tape some pieces of dreads to highlight them) Now it's finished! Oh yeah, in the beginning, don't make sewings in one direction but
twist them a little to get a cool effect! Now, there's just one thing to do: Puton a jumpsuit or any other
merchandise of SlipKnoT and spread the [sic]ness!!!

THE BACK - How to make the backs of The masks.

These directions apply to the back of Jame's , Chris's, Mick's, and Paul's masks. Notice how Slipknot jumps, headbangs, fights, and does flips onstage, and the masks dont wobble or fall off. This is essential, so i will instruct how to make the backs. They vary, but i mixed them together and came up with an easy method that works for all four.

Photos curtesy of Slipknot UFS.

Step 1 - This is the upper portion. It consists of the leather strap that goes over your head to meet the ring. attach it in the middle of the forehead. This is used with all of the masks except for Paul, whos mask has two thin overhead straps, and Mick. it is riveted in all the masks.

Step 2 - The under ear strap. it is used in It will go upward to reach the ring in the back. It is used for Chris' mask only. This will not be riveted.

Step 3 - The over ear strap. This is the strap over the ear that will go back and connect to the ring. It isn't riveted. It is used with James and Mick's mask.

Step 4 -This is the strap that wraps around your head. I recommend measureing your head's circumference and cutting some leather to a little longer than it. This part is one of the main supports, and it is riveted. it will meet the ring in the back and is used for all of the masks. It also overlaps the overhead strap(s). This step is the only one that applys to Mick since the only thing attaching the mask to his head is a not- riveted leather strap behind his head strtching from ear to ear.

Step 5 - the neck. This applys to all the masks, although Chris's neck peice stretches from under the ear to around the neck, but i recommend it being more low. position this strap at the bottom of your mask, and make sure that is will fit properly! This step applys to James and Chris's.

The back of Paul's mask. Paul's mask is unique in the back, particularly on the top. The two straps on the top cross to make an "x" over his head. Then theres the straps that are parallel to his mouth and under his ear. They meet at the top and wraps around the strap from from step 4. There is no neck peice to Paul's mask.
